MARCH is coming!

March is the "Women Month", celebrating women in our lives. Celebrating the successes and failures, and breaking the glass cieling. I will dedicate this space for the coming 31 days for women stories & women empowerment.

NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR BEING A POWERFUL WOMAN.

Looking into the UN Women snapshot for 2022 globally on the progress of the sustainable development goals (SDGs) related to the gender, I personally was shocked.

  1. Over 380 million girls & women are in extreme poverty, living on less than $1.90 per day.

  2. Nearly 1 in every 3 women experience moderate to severe food insecurity.

  3. Over 1.2 billion girls & women of reproductive age live in areas with restriction on access to safe abortion. Out of which 102 million living in places where abortion is prohibited.

  4. 54% of girls who are in formal education lives in crisis-affected countries.

  5. It might take another 286 years to remove discriminatory laws abd close the gap in legal protection for girls & women.

  6. More than 1 in 10 girls & women aged 15-49 are subjected to sexual or physical violence by intimate partners.

  7. 1 in 3 supervisors or managers is woman, in this pace parity will not be achieved for another 40 years. More on the glass cieling, 26% of countries have a comprehensive system tracking the gender-budget allocation.

  8. More than 800,000 girls & women die due to the lack of clean water.

  9. 2 in 10 science, engineering, information, and communication technology jobs are held by women.

  10. 16.5% of the invention patents are held by women.

  11. 44 million girls & women where forced to flee their homes in 2021 due to climate change, war, conflict, or human rights violations.

  12. 49% of women living in urban areas feel less safe walking along at night since the pandemic of COVID-19.

I will leave you with this to digest this, and the blog articles will keep flowing through March for the 31 days.
