During attending the "She Can" event, Dr. Nada Hassan discussed "periods". I believe this is the first event in Egypt where we can discussing PMSing and periods openly as girls & women.
The grey cloud comes out of no where monthly for all females or pimples start to appear out of stress or experiencing hair-loss or negative body image; PMS symptoms sometimes are considered as an abnormal sign. The normal menstrual cycle is around a month, between 21 and 35 days. Mostly 28 days; where day 0 is the first period day.
Frequent mood swings won’t harm usually, but very extreme mood swings is abnormal. Extra body hair growing is considered as an abnormal sign as well. Pimples from stress and hair-loss is not normal. As a result, abnormal periods increase the testosterone hormone or causing ovarian cysts are usually considered the symptoms for another issue which is PCOS.
So, if you do experince pain that leads to stoping you normal work or going out and experiencing mood swings to the extent of losing appetite is considerd abnormal.
And statistics shows that 90% of girls & women experiencing abnormal periods are also having PCOS. And the main issue is that if we are not diagnosed, PCOS might lead to diabetes or increased blood pressure or increased cholesterol, as well as delayed pregnancies, and even might lead to depression or anxiety or eating disorders.
As a precaution, we have to monitor the 5th, 10th, and 14th day benchmarks during your menstrual cycle and ensure not to extremely fall in-between.
And the solution is to see your doctor, in addition to taking your supplements and antioxidants, plus taking care of your nutrition while staying active.
